Aunque todos los perros son carnívoros y pueden y deben comer huesos, debemos tener algunos factores en cuenta a la hora de ofrecer huesos para que sea totalmente seguro para ellos.
Antes que nada deberemos fijarnos en la mandíbula de nuestro perro y saber que los huesos que le ofrezcamos deberán ser más grandes que la mandíbula del can para evitar que intente tragarselo entero. En el caso de los huesos recreativos cuanto más grandes mejor, ya que el objetivo no es alimentar al perro, si no ENTRETENERLO, cepillar sus dientes y de rebote evitar que hagan lo mismo con las patas de las sillas o el sofá. Aún así estos huesos recreativos aportarán también valor nutricional a la dieta de nuestros peludos.
Cuando el perro deje de roer o cuando determines que ya es suficiente recuerda retirar el hueso. Si se rompe o astilla de forma exagerada tíralo a la basura. Si es un hueso crudo, lávalo y guárdalo en el frigorífico no por más de 2 usos.
